Concertshow NOVECENTO

The same world-famous Italian writer and certified philosopher Alessandro Baricco (1958), who studies castles of glass, silk and Homer, has been thinking about music in his youth and has even published books about it. Baricco is an erudite and quite provocative even a little bit quarrelsome person. He likes epigrams and removing banal presumption from the discussed subjects.

In the concertshow Novecento director Dmitry Petrenko invites to look inside oneself, while leafing through the Italian master’s novelette in a form of monologue Novecento. The story is about the destiny of an unusual musician grown up on a ship having never got off onto the land. He plays the piano like no one else has done it before. People from all over the word are seeking to hear this genius pianist, but in order to listen to his playing one must have a trip across the ocean. Musician – pianist is played by our Vestard Simkus, who during the concertshow is performing his own works and improvisations. The narrator is Maxim Busel – the actor of The Mikhail Chekhov Riga Russian Theatre.
